Almost all areas of the world have receding glaciers as the norm these days, according to satellite studies.  It is estimated that 150 cubic miles of ice is being lost each year, and that 4.3 trillion tons of ice melted in just the last 8 years. Of course, this leads to a rise in ocean levels.

ANTARCTIC GLACIERS AND ICE MELTING FROM BENEATH

A group of scientists from NASA, University of California Irvine and University of Washington have published research suggesting that the West Antarctic ice sheet and glaciers there have melted past the point of no return. In the next couple of centuries it could be directly responsible for sea level rises of several metres worldwide. Their findings were published in the journals Science and Geophysical Research Letters.

Antarctic losing ice five times faster than in the 1990's, despite a part of it gaining ice, this accounts for 20% of ocean level rise. Glaciers are melting faster then ever. Sea level rise is happening faster than what the UN predicted many years ago.

Ice Melting in Antarctica From Underneath

A chunk of the Wilkins ice shelf 7 times the size of Manhattan began collapsing. Scientists say the melting of the shelf is another sign of global warming, as temperatures have risen dramatically in Antarctica over the last 50 years. The collapse of the shelf is also a concern because it acts as a buttress for continental ice, which will erode more quickly and lead to rising sea level without the buffer.

Scientists have definitive new evidence that shows all but one of the world's major ice sheets are shrinking. Everyone except Canada and US participating in Kyodo Accords. US and Canada boycott and refuse to sign, because carbon fuel/nuclear monopolies tell politicians what to do in those countries. 

Jul 25, 2012..On July 8, NASA satellite imagery showed about 40 percent of Greenland's top ice layer intact. By July 12, only four days later, 97 percent of the ice had melted. Margaret Warner asks NASA's Thomas Wagner for scientific explanation of the massive thaw.

Ocean levels have gone up about 7 inches, and is now happening twice as fast as in the last 100 years. Ocean levels rise in different ways in different places, for many reasons. One reason is explained in video.  Future rise in ocean by 2030 is projected to be 6 inches. By 2050, 12 inches rise. By 2100 36 inches rise. Coastal communities need to plan accordingly.

PRESIDENT OBAMA IS PRO EVERYTHING, BUT ANTI KYOTO ACCORD SIGNING


President Obama is pro everything; oil, gas, tar sands, fracking, drilling and nuclear energy, despite all of these being global warming in their effect. For some strange reason, despite being pro everything, he is ANTI signing anything like the Kyoto Accords, where nations commit in writing to actually doing something about this accelerating global warming and negative climate changing problem. The US seems to be taking the lead role of denying, obstructing, blocking and suppressing all of the bad news. The US is the ONLY developed nation that claims global warming does not exist and no action is needed. 

The whole world is being dragged into a very dark abyss, because the carbon and nuclear energy monopolies have such a strangle hold on the mass media, the politicians and on public perception. As of 2015, more people today believe that global warming does NOT exist in the US, than in 2012. Instead of going in the right direction, the US seems to be headed in the completely opposite direction of the rest of the planet. And for a nation that prides itself on freedom, democracy and being the 'best', what the US can pride itself on being the best at these days, seems to be denying reality and evidence.
